CapX’s presence at Conservative Party Conference this year is going to be bigger and better than ever before. We’ll be reporting on the big speeches in the conference hall, picking out the most interesting ideas being aired at fringe events and trying to make sense of what will be a crucial few days for the Prime Minister, the pretenders to the throne and the Conservative Party.
But CapX is also hosting some events of its own. So if you’re heading to Birmingham, be sure to come and say hello.
On Monday morning, Times columnist and Conservative peer Lord Finkelstein will be talking to Jesse Norman MP about Jesse’s new biography of Adam Smith.
After lunch on Monday, CapX’s Editor-in-Chief Robert Colvile is taking part a discussion of the future of capitalism with Chris Skidmore MP, Rishi Sunak MP, the economist Fredrik Erikson, CapX pollster Matt Singh and City AM‘s Rachel Cunliffe.
On Tuesday morning, I’m chairing a discussion on what “Global Britain” really means with Bob Seely MP and two former Commercial Secretaries to the Treasury: Lord O’Neill and Baroness Neville-Rolfe.
All of the events will be held in the Centre for Policy Studies space — Symphony Hall Foyer, Level 4, ICC. Our parent organisation’s full schedule of events is available here.
For those interested, I am also taking part in a Spectator event on the next industrial revolution and an Adam Smith Institute panel on rebooting consumer capitalism.
