CapX is looking for an intern

By

CapX is looking for an enthusiastic Editorial Intern to join our small, dynamic team based at the Centre for Policy Studies in Westminster.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in political journalism and digital publishing. As part of the CapX team, you will support the day-to-day running of the website and help produce our popular daily newsletter. You’ll gain insight into editing, commissioning and content curation – as well as a grounding in how policy-focused media operates.

This is initially a three month internship, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be paid the London Living Wage.

About CapX

CapX publishes the best writing on policy, economics, technology and ideas. Our mission is to make the case for popular capitalism – promoting policies that support genuine mass prosperity. While you don’t need to be politically active, a basic understanding of free-market thinking and the centre-right policy landscape is important.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting with editing and publishing articles on our website
  • Researching and suggesting timely pieces from other outlets
  • Supporting the commissioning process, including researching potential writers
  • Contributing ideas for articles, themes and editorial projects
  • Supporting the production of the daily newsletter

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • A passion for news and politics (UK and international)
  • Excellent written English and attention to detail
  • A demonstrable interest in economics, public policy and current affairs
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Creative ideas for content and audience engagement

Desirable:

  • Experience with WordPress or online publishing tools
  • Familiarity with social media, especially Twitter/X, for content promotion
  • Basic graphic/design skills or knowledge of tools like Canva or Photoshop

How to apply:

Please send a short cover letter explaining your interest in the role, a CV, a sample of your writing (published or unpublished) and three ideas for CapX articles to [email protected], putting ‘[Your Name] CapX intern application’ in the subject line.

This is a full-time internship, working Monday to Friday. CapX operates a flexible, hybrid working policy but this role will be primarily office-based for three days a week between Tuesday and Thursday.

Closing Date: Ongoing, but we are looking to appoint ASAP and will consider candidates as they apply.

Interviews: Will take place on a rolling basis.

Start Date: ASAP/May
